This section of the gallery was designed to suggest a defense contractor's office. I chose to use the device of a cork bulletin board
to display the copious images and text the curators had culled together. There are many inside references and tributes to the design team that worked on the history gallery reinstallation project. Hand-lettered on the office door is our preparator's name, Steve Briscoe. The master floorplan for the new gallery can be seen as a vintage-style blueprint on the board. Finally, the interoffice memos scattered across the overall collage present facts and figures about defense spending in California during the Cold War. Each memo is from one member of the design team from another (all listed as being employed at various aerospace and technology firms).
